Things have changed so much since last year. Joe was still a civilian and we were about to embark on our journey to military life. We were barely scraping by, living paycheck to paycheck. We were also pretty darn happy - tough as it was at that time in our lives. =) Tough times either make you or break you and I can definitely say that they "made" us.
That night, we went to a fireworks display/hometown concert (read: concert full of covers). We sat in front of a very interesting family who was accompanied by - oddly enough - one of the girls from our small group. It made for an interesting evening. The fireworks were pretty good, though. That's pretty much what we came for anyway. I think it took us like an hour to get home after everything was over. It would usually take us about 15 minutes to get home. It was a little irritating, but expected.
Here are a few pictures from the day [and none of them are of me, lol]:
Look at that hottie! ;-) This is what I call his "scruffy face."
Another guy I miss...
Patriotic cupcakes I made for the family dinner.
Fireworks, of course. =)
This year, it's a whole different ballgame. Instead of celebrating our freedom, he's "over there" fighting for it. I suppose I'm getting used to him not being here, but I still miss him every minute he's gone.
"Land of the free, because of the brave."
I love you, baby! You are my hero.
God Bless the U.S.A.!
I love this post. Very nice! I'm sure you are very proud of your hubby =)
