How far along: 31 weeks! Only 9 left...holy. moly.
Weight gain/loss: Around 30ish.
Body changes: Last week or the week before I mentioned to someone that I didn't have any stretch marks on my belly. God must have laughed at me because a few days later I saw the beginnings of 3 or 4 and this week they are definitely there. Not cool. Other than that and my ever growing belly, not much is going on.

Seriously, I can't believe how big my belly is! It looks different in the mirror. I swear.
Gender: It's a GIRL! =)
Movement: This girl moves and grooves in my belly pretty much all day long. She does have her quiet times, but I feel her throughout most of the day. Her most active time is still at night though. Her favorite place as of late is in my ribs. Yaaaay. =P
Sleep: It really depends on the night. A couple nights ago, I didn't sleep well but the last two nights have been pretty well. Still getting up for potty breaks a couple times, but it's not a big deal anymore.
What I'm looking forward to: Finishing the sewing projects I have planned for her, finishing her room, baby shower next month {!!} and hopefully getting to have an ultrasound. I'm hoping that's going to be one benefit of having GD. It's not guaranteed, of course, but I'm hoping they'll want to see how she's growing. ::fingers crossed::
What I miss: Um, everything. =P Sleeping on my stomach, eating what I'm craving...pretty much the basics.
Cravings: Nothing specific, really, but I'm basically craving everything I can't have now that I have GD. It's a cruel thing to have diabetes when you're pregnant.
Symptoms: Back and hip pain like crazy. I wake up super stiff most mornings and anytime I'm up and moving my back hurts. I still have a little heartburn every now and then even with the Zantac I'm taking.
Best moment this week: Sadly, the best parts of this week have been finding foods that I can eat that I will want to eat. It's also been pretty awesome to see that my diet has been pretty good at controlling my blood sugar. Hopefully that means no more meds in my future!
Now for the note:
I wanted to thank those of you {who I have yet to respond to} who didn't leave a "one-up" comment on yesterday's post. It seems there were a couple people who felt that I didn't have a valid reason for being upset about our current situation. Let me just say this: I realize that there are other military wives going through different, possibly more difficult, situations. However, I am not them. I can only be me and can only experience what I'm feeling. I have a right to feel the way I do and to express those feelings on my blog. Like it or not, this is my space and I'm going to talk about what's going on in my life and how it makes me feel. If you don't like what I have to say, instead of leaving less than nice comments please feel free to not read my blog.
That said, I appreciate all the encouragement from other moms who've been in similar situations. Like I said yesterday, I know we'll get through it... It's just not the ideal situation and sometimes that's upsetting. Who isn't upset when things don't go quite as they thought they would? I think that's pretty normal. And, geez, the pregnancy hormones have a tendency to magnify things times a million!
totally agree. hoping your not counting mine in the "one up" comments, because i was totally not trying to one up you. were all here for support if you ever need it.
ReplyDeletehope things start to settle down for you soon :)
Look at that baby belly! I think you look great, Sarah!! :) Hope you are getting the hang of finger pricking and carb counting!
ReplyDeleteI was so upset when I saw people comment on your blog yesterday. We are all allowed to feel down about our own PERSONAL situations and as military spouses we need to be supportive.
ReplyDelete9 more weeks! They'll go by so fast!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone was having a hormonal day yesterday :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe there's only 9 weeks left (knock on wood)!
I'm with Heather!! I hope you're not counting my comment as a "one upper!" I totally support you <3 I told a fellow blogger that just because some might have gone through the same thing or worse, doesn't make the suck factor any less for you!
ReplyDeleteThis is your blog, so you say what you want and need to!
Congrats on getting to week 31! I'm 36 weeks today and SO READY to have this baby---I know other pregnant women in their 40th week or more might want to slap me for saying that so early, but it's true;)
You look great! I can't believe she will be here so soon. :)
ReplyDeleteYour husband doesn't have to be deployed for you to have a crappy situation. Having him doing all that working around the time you are having a baby is less than ideal. Plus you even said that you realized its not as bad as a deployment.
ReplyDeleteI have my gestational diabetes test Friday. I can't imagine having to watch what I eat while pregnant. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteI read your last post and read the comments, geez louise. How bout a little support?!? That does sound super craptastic but hopefully it won't be as bad as it sounds. I always try to expect the worst and hope for the best. Best wishes!
People are so rude! I went and read some of the comments that they left you and they were completely unnecessary. I don't know why people feel the need to make everything into a competition but I'm glad you didn't take it to heart. I really hope things change and you can have your husband home with you more often. I'm sure you guys will make the transition to parenthood beautifully and it will only make your relationship stronger :]
