Fun Delivery

I'd say "fun mail" but what got dropped off at our house yesterday wasn't mail. It was very nice though. =)

In case you can't tell, this is our new couch!!! I waited half the day for them to deliver it too. Anyway... At first I thought it wasn't the right one because of the covering they used for it. Fortunately the delivery guys were very nice and one of them made sure to show me that it was, in fact, the right color. Then I had to wait the rest of the day for my husband to get home and for one of his friends from work to come over and help with it.

As you can see, we also still have our other couch. We put it up on Craigslist after we ordered the new one and have barely gotten a bite. One military couple said they were interested, but they thought we lived on the other end of the island. I guess once they found out where we lived they were no longer interested because they never got back with us about coming to see it. Grrr. Then another guy {who had the worst grammar ever} totally low-balled our price. He was such a jerk that we didn't even bother emailing him back. So, here we are...with two couches and really only enough room for one. If you know anyone on the island who wants a couch, have them email me!!!! Anyway, I'm sure you'd much rather see the couch than read my rambles. =P

This was last night before we went to bed. Clearly this couch is Jasper - approved. ;-)

Ta-da! The new couch!! We had no idea when we ordered it that it would come with pillows...so I went out and bought more from Ross. So now we have a ton of pillows. =P Oh well. It does make it look more comfy, though, doesn't it? I think so anyway. We were going to push the couch up against the wall under the window, but it would make everything off center. Especially the pictures I hung so carefully on the wall. And it'd probably make watching TV a little awkward too. So we're probably going to put a small table or something behind the couch so it doesn't look so weird.  A new couch after 3 years of the other is definitely a little different, but I'm liking it. I really like the way it looks in here. Well, without the mess on the other side of the room anyway...

The couch in the space where the DVD rack usually hangs out...

And the DVD rack is in between the entertainment center and desk. Eeeeek! I absolutely hate this, but it's really our only option until we sell the couch...which I'm praying will be soon. The perfectionist in me can't handle this situation for very long.

Maybe I'll try taking naps on my new, comfy couch to block out the mess on the other side of the room. =P

So what do y'all think of our new couch?!

Spoiled

Over the last week or so, I've begun to notice a pattern... Not necessarily a bad pattern, but definitely an expensive one. I can't say I'm really that upset about it other than the fact that it's draining the good 'ole bank account.

Obviously when you're on vacation, you tend to spend more money. I don't think I have to explain that one to anyone. We did quite a bit of shopping while we were on vacation and I am fully aware that my husband likes to spoil me. I don't think I can count on my hands how many times I've said, "Oh, I'd love to have this...but it's expensive..." and he's replied with, "Well, if you want it let's get it." I am soooo not complaining. ;-) But clearly I am spoiled. We bought so much stuff while we were in NC that we had to mail ourselves a box! And our one suitcase was still around 70 lbs. {All I can say about that is 2 people, 1 suitcase. And thank God Delta gives service members a break on luggage!}

Included in the list of things we bought are tumblers. I don't know why, but all of a sudden I am absolutely loving tumblers! Ok, maybe I do know why - I'm an absolute klutz. Case in point: I broke 3 of our glasses within the first 3 months Joe was deployed last year. From then on I restricted myself to using only our plastic glasses. Oddly enough, my mom made me do the same thing after moving into the new house my senior year in high school. I was responsible for the breaking of around six glasses. Sarah = Klutz. Anyway, I think this is my favorite one so far.

I know it's supposed to be a play on words....but I'll give you one guess what I'm drinking out of it. ;-) Sweet tea. It's really all I drink when I'm at home. As soon as I saw that one, I had to get it. We also got an OU tumbler and a UNC one for Joe. =)

A couple weeks ago, Joe's MacBook just sort of stopped working. We're pretty sure it's the hard drive, but it wouldn't get past the startup screen. We were both sad... Joe more than I, of course. I thought it was interesting that his computer made it through an entire year in Iraq and then it "dies" when he gets home. =P Of all the environments... Anyway, he was complaining... And then he put his username, info and bazillion GB of music on my computer. I wasn't really gracious about letting him use my precious laptop either. What can I say? I'm attached to my Mac. So then we tossed around the idea of getting his fixed - which really wouldn't cost that much - or getting an iMac. We've both wanted one for a while, but didn't have a real need. He uses his iPad {that he got as soon as he got back} more than a computer anyway, so he only really needs a "hub" to sync his iPad and phone with. I, obviously, have a computer but I still thought it would be nice to have a bigger computer..... Long story short, we came home with this yesterday.

Joe and his new toy.

Well, I guess it's his. I'm using it too, but it's his computer and I just get to play with it I suppose. =P

Even the box looks nice. ;-)

Sitting nice and pretty on our desk. =)

With Macs you can name your hard drive and computer. The iMac is "Mac Daddy." 'Cause he's big and awesome. The "daddy" computer. Haha!

We loaded all our information on it last night and today and also got to download the new OS {Lion} for free. Lion didn't come on this model because we bought it from the NEX and they didn't have the upgrade yet. Luckily Apple offers the download for free for people who have recently bought a new Mac. I've been playing with it today trying to get the feel of it and to see if I want to put it on my laptop. So far I'm loving it. I think my favorite feature might be full screen apps/programs. Check out Mail in full screen:

Eeep! I love it!

I'm also loving Launchpad. It gives you the ability to see all your apps {programs} on your desktop...just like you'd view them on your iPad or iPhone. Awesome! {said in a sing-song voice}

Mission control is pretty sweet too. You can have a bunch of apps open in different desktops and view them all by clicking on Mission Control. Not a big difference from Expose and Spaces, but still pretty cool. I am a huge fan of Spaces. =)

Like I said, I'm loving the new OS. So if you have a Mac and are wondering if it's worth the $30 to upgrade - it is. And don't read the reviews on the App Store. I read a bunch of bad ones and I don't have anything bad to say about it after using it. So there. =P Haters just wanna hate, right!?

In other news, we're on a wait list for a new couch!!!!! See? I told you I was spoiled! We went practically all over the island Monday in search of a new couch. My standards are pretty high and I know exactly what I want. Which is a good thing when there are plenty to choose from and not such a good thing when supplies are limited. This is what we're on the wait list for. I'm not completely in love with it, but it does match exactly what I want. {Minus the non-matching ottoman, which we will not be purchasing.}

What do you think? Like? Dislike? My only issue is that it's not the exact color I wanted. That said, I think it will hide small amounts of dirt and dog hair nicely so maybe it's not a bad thing after all...

I know I'm getting incredibly spoiled lately. Not just with my husband buying things for me, but with him being home too. I am loving being able to spend so much time with him. I love shopping with him, but I'm not entirely sure he enjoys it that much. ;-) At least he doesn't really fuss about it, though. I'm a lucky girl, and I'm thankful that at least something good is coming out of the deployment. Because we all know that we wouldn't be able to afford these things without that extra deployment money.

I'm okay with being spoiled after a year of doing without my hubby and the extras. =)

Lovely Randomness

I realized earlier that I haven't been on my computer all day! Scary. Anyway, I have a lot to talk about and I'm really not feeling like putting everything into one coherent, flowing post. =) Sorry.

The reason I don't feel like being all coherent and stuff is because of the allergy situation. I don't know what the deal is, but ever since they mowed our grass I just haven't been the same. First it was a scratchy throat. Then it was sneezing. Then it was a combination: scratchy throat, sneezing, runny nose, watery eye. Yes eye. For some reason, only my left eye likes to water. Again, I don't get it. So basically, I feel like crap. Oh, and my ears are stopped up. Today has been better - no runny nose or sneezing. But, my head still feels all...foggy and junk. Bleh.

Single digits until D day. I had a total and complete breakdown this morning. It just hit me and I don't feel good anyway. Plus, Aunt Flo totally isn't helping things. Hrmph.

***

After nailing slats in our bed the other night, Joe finally decided it was time we got a new bed. *insert choirs singing the Alleluia chorus here* =) So, this morning we ventured out to the furniture store. We decided to visit the one on post again since no taxes are involved there. No taxes is a big seller for us. Lol. Anyway, we walked in and fell in L-O-V-E with this baby:

{If you couldn't tell, this was taken at the store not at our house.}

King size sleigh bed by none other than Ashley furniture. *Swoon* We searched around the rest of the store, but it was love at first sight for us. The thing was a freakin' steal too! The bed itself was 50% cheaper than the queen size version we'd seen in an Ashley store before we left GA. Needless to say, we were sold. We bought the bed, a mattress of course, 2 night stands and the dresser you can kind of see on the right. =) I was a happy girl.

And then it got delivered. Yep, same day. There's a local guy that will deliver for you for a decent price. We were told that the company AAFES uses here in Hawaii takes a while to call you back and - obviously - we don't really have that kind of time. So, we called Mr. Delivery Man. He only takes cash though, so I went about running to stores and ATMs to try and get cash. After about 45 minutes of doing just this, Joe calls me to tell me that our dresser was damaged and that I needed to go back to the furniture store. Grrr.

Off I go to the furniture store. I get there, and Joe is on the phone with one of the clerks. Uh? Ok. The managerial person came up and informed me that I needed to go home, get the receipt and come back so she could do a refund-rebuy process. Meanwhile Mr. Delivery Man is on his way from my house [where the receipt is] to the store. So, after running all this by Joe we decided that I would wait for Mr. Delivery Man to bring me the receipt so they can do their thing with it. Le sigh. I waited. While I was waiting, apparently a shift change happened and no one informed the incoming shifters what in the H was going on. Mr. Delivery Man comes, they pay him and he goes on his merry way telling me he's going to go get the new dresser. So, I ask the older more experienced-looking clerk, "So, you don't need anything else from me?" She looks at me like I'm an alien and says, "I'm sorry?" I began to tell her the whole she-bang and she asked me if I had the receipt. "No I don't have the receipt, Mr. Delivery Man brought it with him!" After 10 minutes of trying to find him and get the UPC codes she needed, the problem was solved. She apologized and all I said was, "Well, I understand you have a process you have to go through. But, it'd really be nice if the day/night shifts would communicate with each other." She looked at me like I was speaking a different language. Tough cookies, woman.

After all that, we now have a room full of gorgeous, new bedroom furniture. =) We've been married 2 years and this was our first big purchase as a couple. I told Joe that we had "adult" furniture now. He told me that we weren't adults and that we were still young. I compromised and told him we were young adults. ;-)

I'm so gonna miss Joe. Even more so now that I have this HUGE bed to sleep in all by myself. *sigh* Anyone wanna come stay with me? I've got plenty of room! Lol!

***

As further proof that I have serious baby fever, I informed Joe tonight that a dresser that was previously in our bedroom would look good as a changing table/dresser in our [future] baby's room. Of course, I'd have to paint it to match the decor, but it would most definitely work. =) 2011, you better hurry up and get here!!!!

***

We went to ACS today also. I got a Blue Star Card {and the guy thought I was weird for applying for one and we don't have kids. Thanks a lot, jerkface!} and why did no one tell me they take your freakin' picture?! I soooo looked like crap. Grr. It's only good for a year though...right? I also got some info about volunteering. While Joe's gone, I'm going to be helping out at ACS. I had no idea they needed so much help here! They're on a hiring freeze, so I have a feeling I'm going to be pretty stinkin' busy while he's gone. YAY!!!! I felt a huge relief when I left there feeling like I actually had a purpose. =)

***

I think we're going to go see Toy Story 3 tomorrow. =) It may be kinda cooky but hey, those movies came out when we were kids! Plus, who doesn't need a good laugh in the face of deployment every once in a while!?

Alright, enough of my rambling randomness for today. =)

Hope y'all have a good weekend!
