Randomness Along with Some Hilarity

But first, the randomness. =)

I was attacked by World's Largest Cockroach this morning. And by attacked I mean it was waiting for me to get up and out of my bedroom. I'm pretty sure I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and it was there, but I honestly can't remember. I barely remember going to the bathroom. I took a benadryl before I went to bed because I'm pretty sure Jasper brought some good 'ole NC pollen with him. I'm incredibly allergic to the 5 billion trees that are in NC. Anyway. Jasper wanted to eat it (of course), and I yelled at him before he could touch the nasty sucker. I ran out of the hallway and into the kitchen for my handy-dandy notebook! bug spray. I sprayed the heck out of that thing, hoping it was dead but of course I wouldn't have that kind of luck. I left it there for a while, but Jasper kept wanting to play with/eat it, so I figured it'd be a good idea to remove it. Brilliance struck, and I realized I have a vacuum cleaner. =P I would just suck the nasty thing up and not have to deal with it until I empty the filter, which doesn't happen that often. I busted out my trusty vacuum and attempted to use the attachment. The farther away I stand, the better. FAIL #1. Attachment doesn't suck very well. =( I freaked, ran to the living room and sat down. (I know, I'm a big baby.) Then, I decided I'd run the vacuum over it. FAIL #2. Apparently, my vacuum doesn't like the hardwood floors. It was worth a shot, though, right? So, on attempt #3 I decided to sweep it out the front door. I opened the door, propped open the screen door, grabbed the broom and swept it out the front door. Success!!!! =D I then proceeded to call Maintenance to have Pest Control come out. Ain't NO WAY I'm having gihugic roaches in MY house. They haven't called me back though... I'll be calling them tomorrow, rest assured.

***

My car is being funny. =( After volunteering today, I started it. Well, I attempted to. It's been doing this weird thing on and off for a while.... You know the sound your car makes when you start it? Ok, well, mine does that twice every once in a while and then it officially starts. Annoying, but eh. Well, today when that happened, it DIED. Just died. Ok.... So, I attempted to start it again. Same thing happened, but when it started to sort of sputter, I revved the engine a bit and all was well. What the heck?! I called my dad - of course - and it could be one a few things. 1) Spark plugs - pretty easy fix, 2) Starter - expensive and totally not cool, 3) Timing Belt - could be the worst of the 3. Dad said that if #3 happens, my car will NOT start and will have to be towed. =( Yikes!!! Sooooo... I have to go get it checked out. Awesome. {And I completely forgot to fill Joe in on this when I talked to him tonight. *sigh*}

Yesterday, JG passed this little lovely along to me. =)

Haha =) Isn't it cute?! I love it! Thanks, JG!!!!!

So, the rules are...

A) Thank the person who sent it to you (Check)
B) List 3 things your readers might not know about you
C) Pass it along to 3 other sassy bloggers!

1. I am dying to go to London. Thanks to one of my FB friends who posted pictures, the "itch" has returned with a vengeance.
2. 'NSYNC was my favorite boy band back in the day. =)
3. I sleep with a mask on, not because I need it but because I freak myself out with all the shadows and the lights in the house. Oh, the paranoia of a lonely Milie. =P

So, the lucky sassy bloggers are...

2. A Marines' Wife @ Flip Flops and Combat Boots

***

And now, for the hilarity. =)

Since I decided that Jasper brought NC pollen with him to Hawaii, I gave him a bath tonight. I always ask him, "Do you wanna take a bath?" To which he usually gets really, really excited. So, I went to the bathroom and started getting things ready: towel, doggie shampoo, cup and ran the water til it got warm. The tub started filling up and Jasper was still excited.

See? Excited. He kept jumping up on me. =)

This was taken moments before I picked him up and he attempted to hang on to the bath rug for dear life. I guess he finally remembered what the bath was. =)

So, the bath went well...as far as dog baths go. He attempted to jump out of the tub twice. I told him he could get out of the tub before I realized he was still sorta soapy. Of course, when he finally did get out of the tub, he shook off twice. *sigh* At least the towel was covering most of him. =) Ooooh and when I broke out the hair dryer (I don't like him sitting on the couch all wet), you would have thought I was torturing him! I don't know what his issue is with the hair dryer... Anyway. I finally set him free and caught the hilarious aftermath on video. Seriously, you have to watch this!!!! I know it's sort of long, but I don't think you'll regret it! And please forgive the shaking of the camera. I was trying not to laugh hysterically. =)

Enjoy!!!

Hope you had a good Hump-Day! =)

How Did I Not Know...

That I was nominated for an award?!

Sheesh. I must really be out of it these days!!

Anyway, moving on. I was My blog was nominated for Best Theme/Layout over at Navy Doll!! Since I didn't know about this, I have a feeling very few of my readers knew! So, while there's still time left, please head over there and vote for me!

I'll be back with a real post later. =) I just had to post this one real quick.

Love and hugs!

This and That

Today, I had my second trip to the local DMV. If I didn't mention it last time, I seriously hate that place. I have never seen such a lack of organization and control in my life. Even in Oklahoma, when you get your license, it's a much more structured experience. Not in Hawaii, though! Walk in to a hot, crowded, poorly ventilated room, get in line and wait. For 2 hours. Yes. I waited in line to take a test and get my driver's license for 2. whole. hours. I even went early! I got there at 8:20 and left at about 10:30. I'm not even kidding.

So, I said goodbye to this one [sadly because it was my first one with my married name and I really loved living in NC]:

And I said hello to this very fruity, I mean ridiculous looking one:

Despite, the look of the card, I think I took a pretty darn good picture! Don't you?! Well, except for the part that I look like a brunette. Seriously, I even said that to the lady who handed it to me. =) Lol. She probably thought I was crazy. I think my hair looks darker because they took it in a dark corner of the room. Whatev. I look hot. Lol! ;-)

Now that I've informed you of the oh-so exciting highlight of my day, I think it's time I take care of those blog awards I received this weekend!

First up is this award from Jess Raquel at Mo Shíorghrá. Thanks girlie!!! =)

Since I've already received this award once, I'm going to let you - yes you - take some of this sunshine and spread it to other bloggers who you think could use a bit of sunshine in their life today!

Next up is this award from The Sawyer Bunch at Confessions of a Sailor's Wife. Big, huge thanks, girl!

This one actually has rules! *gasp* Oh no! Haha! =)

1. Thank the person who gave you the award -- check!
2. Share seven things about you
3. Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs that you think are fantastic {probably going to be breaking this one...}
4. Let your nominees know about the award

Alright, so 7 things about me...

1. I miss the psycho weather in Oklahoma. I would love a good thunderstorm right about now.
2. I'm dying to plant flowers in the flowerbed near the house.
3. I think I'm addicted to blogging. Me and my computer spend way too much time together.
4. I ♥ Glee. I'm not sure why, but maybe because I love to hear them sing! Which is weird, because I was never really one to watch musicals (unless it's performed on stage, then I'm game).
5. I love Chinese food! Actually, I think I've just been on a Chinese food kick lately. Just thinking about it is starting to make me hungry, lol!
6. I really hope the people who elected our "fine" president are kicking themselves. (More on that later...)
7. Ben & Jerry's Double Fudge Brownie is my best friend on a depressing day. =) Sooo yummy!

Holy cow, that was hard! Who knew saying 7 things about yourself could be so hard?! Unless, of course, I went with obvious things like my hair color, eye color and that sort of thing. But, how fun is that?

Now, for the lucky bloggers (totally not gonna be 15):

1. A @ ACU's and ABC's {p.s. she just started blogging so pop on over to her blog and say 'hello'!}
2. Cheryl @ Boots in the Doorway
3. Jessica @ {Mis}Adventures of an Army Wife
4. Ashleigh @ A Deployment Diary {in Hawaii}
5. Sarah @ Diary of a Navy Wife

There is no possible way could have nominated 15!!! It's just too hard!! So, congrats to the lucky winners!! =)

***

I have really tried not to criticize our president too much. Really. I have. But, I can't take it anymore. The man is just...ridiculous. I don't know if he's actually stupid - highly unlikely since he does have a law degree - or if he just listens to his poorly-selected cabinet too much. Or maybe - and this is more likely to be true - the man is simply a politician. He doesn't know the inner workings of our nation and how complex it really is. He was just nominated because he's a really good orator, knows how to spin things the "proper way," and he is the complete opposite of our last president.

I think he's taken things way too far with this oil spill. Since when does an accident warrant a Presidential Address? Maybe a natural disaster or monumental train accident I can understand. But an address about the oil spill. Give. Me. A. Break. It seems to me like our "lovely" president is more concerned with placing the blame and making them "pay" than actually finding out how it happened and how it can be avoided in the future. Accidents happen, people. Sure, it sucks. Yes, it harms the life around the area where the spill is located. Allow me to remind you that oil is found in nature. It's a natural - not man-made - product that we use and is also a non-renewable source. So, while this natural product may harm the life around it for a time, nature will take its course and all will be well.

Meanwhile, let me remind you that BP isn't the sole company involved in the spill. They may have funded it, but they weren't the ones drilling. Like most energy companies, they hire actual drilling companies to drill for them. They hire geologists to inspect the area they want to drill in. Not to mention the enormous amounts of legal paperwork they have to do before they can even start the process.* Yet, accidents still happen. People are still people and as such are NOT perfect!

When will we stop believing that people aren't perfect? When will we realize that people will eventually let us down? And when will we stop relying on politicians and our government to solve ALL of our problems?

*To get more information on the oil spill and its related issues, check out JG's blog post. She did her research and can tell you a whole lot more about it than I can. You're welcome for the extra shout-outs, JG. ;-)*

Whew! That was a really long post!!! If you're still reading, thanks for sticking around for more of my randomness!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Awards, and Stickies, and Flights [Oh My!]

First things first, I have an award to share! Two lovely lady bloggers gave this award to me! A huge thanks to Jamie at Stuck in a World of Blue and Camo and Chantal at Chantal's Blog!! Y'all are awesome!

 Apparently, I have a "sweet blog"! Yay! =D

The only rules are to pass it along...which - as you know - is always the hardest part! I think I'll share with some new blogs. =)

2. Mrs. S @ The Adventures of Superman & Mrs. S
3. Sara @ Welcome to the Blog of an Army Wife
4. Shannon @ Fort Cox: An Airman, His Bride, & Our Westie

Whew! That was hard!

And now, for the stickies. My bestie has been trying to convince me for years - quite literally - to conform to her list making ways. So, this is my version. I love stickies. Every time I wonder into the office supplies section at WalMart, Target, etc, I have this insane urge to buy more post-its! I'm not sure what the obsession is, but I do use them. They can be found all over the desk, on the fridge, on the calendar, and sometimes on the mirror. I am forgetful. Stickies help me. They help me accomplish things too. =) Wanna see what's on my list of things to do? Of course you do! ;-)
PS- Thanks to Amber at The Survival Guide for the Young, Fabulous, and Newlywed for the website!!!

I seriously love stickies!!!! Ok, enough of that. =)

We I purchased my BIL's plane tickets yesterday! Ouch, says the bank account. Joe is super excited, and my BIL has already asked me what we should do while he's here. So it begins. =) I'm glad he's coming. I wish his fiance could come. I still want time with my hubby too, though. *sigh* I know what matters most is that I get time with him at all - and I will - but I guess...I'm getting freaked out about the D word again. I hate that it's always in the back of my mind. Grrrr, Army.

So, when we found out that Joe was getting [*gulp*] deployed my bestie and I started planning what to do and where to go on my birthday. Joe will be missing it by about 2 weeks. =( When I realized I would be alone on my birthday I got really upset. I don't usually take my birthday so seriously, but I think because I know I won't be spending it with him, it's now a big deal. Weird, huh? So, we thought about both of us going to CA because her grandpa lives there. I've never been to CA and she lived there for a while and then visited just about every year after that. She knows her way around. Good idea, right? Right. But, it's like $800 for me to get there and like $400 for her. Ouch, on my part. Then we got to really thinking. Or, I did. What if you came to Hawaii instead, Melissa? I could pay for half...it would beat paying $800 to go to CA. Come on, who gets the chance to visit Hawaii for basically nothing?! And off our brains went planning her trip to Hawaii. =) All that we need now is her hubby to say yes!! {Neither of us plan trips or spend over like $100 without ok-ing it through our hubbies. Don't judge =P; it's part of our beliefs that married couples should make decisions together.}

I am super excited and hope that her hubby will 'let' her come visit! We both sorta think he will, and I told her that I'd be mad at him if he didn't. Like he cares, but...hey, that's the only threat I've got! Lol!!! So, now that my next...two months[ish] are planned...what to do this weekend?

***P.S. Don't forget to go HERE and vote for my What Does It Mean? milspouse post!!

Happy Friday, y'all!

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Well, it feels like it's been a long time since my last post! I know it's only been two days, but it feels like forever because I usually post every day. Such is life when you're in between houses. I'm afraid it's going to get much worse too. Next week, I have to deal with movers. Then, I have to take Jasper to the vet to get his blood test done. $60 down the drain. *sigh* And more money to go down the drain later. But, let's not talk about all that junk. Let's talk about a little something that brightened my day!!!

Thanks to Mrs. S at The Adventures of Superman and Mrs. S for giving me this award!!! Yay! Have I mentioned how much I *heart* getting awards?! Totally brightened up the yucky day. It's chilly, cloudy, and just generally gross outside. I have a feeling it's going to rain later to. Bleh!

Oh, I should probably pass this award on! Lol! Some of these are blogs I can't live without and others I just found and love! =)

Ok, here are the lucky winners:

1. Sara @ Welcome to the Blog of an Army Wife {if only you knew how hard it is to type your own name...wrong! lol!}
2. Ashley @ Raising Brats
3. Nicole @ Mrs. Muffins
4. Mrs. G.I. Joe @ ACU's, Stiletto Shoes, and Pretty Pink Tutus
5. The Undomestic Army Wife @ The Undomestic Army Wife {because she just found out she's having twins! yay!}

This little one also helped brighten my day. =) We took a walk with her mommy this morning. Even though it was chilly, we had a good time.

I hope ya'll have "a bright, bright sunshiny day!" =D

**Edit:You may or may not get extra entries for the giveaway by giving me a shout-out {aka shameless plug} on your blog to help me reach my goal!!**

2. I was extremely shy when I was little. In kindergarten, I didn't talk to anyone other than the teacher for like 6 months. Yeah.
3. I have several favorite colors. If you asked me what my favorite was, I'd say blue...but I really just like to wear blue the most, I like to look at the color pink, and purple is the color I like but don't really have any of anywhere in my house or closet.
4. I would LOVE to own a Mini Cooper. They're just so cute!

6. I *heart* strawberries.
7. Chocolate is my downfall.

Hope your week is getting off to a great start! Mine has! More about that later. =)

Must Read!

I tell you what, I'm seriously raking these in the last few weeks!! =D

Raking in what? Another blog award! I heart awards. They make me all warm and fuzzy.

A big thanks to Whitney over at Everything Happens for a Reason!

The rules for the Best Blog Award are:
1. To accept the award, you must post it on your blog with the name of the person who has granted you the award, and a link to their blog.
2. Pass the award on to approximately 15 other blogs that you recently discovered, and think are great!
3. Contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
But, I think I'm going to do this a little bit differently! I know, how dare I change the rules?! =) I think that since this will make 3 awards in 2ish weeks I'm allowed.

So, here are my rules for this award today:

You, my fabulous followers can have this award. But, there is a catch! Only the first 10 people to comment are allowed to accept this award and pass it on to others. So, if you would like this award, comment quickly! I will disable comments for this post after 10 comments [if I can figure it out, LOL].

Happy Tuesday!

Random Wednesday

First, I suppose I should get down to the business of the blog award I won yesterday. =) Thanks again to The Undomestic Army Wife!

The rules are:
1. Thank and link to the person that gave you the award.
2. Pass this award on to 15 bloggers you’ve recently discovered and whom you think are fantastic.
3. Contact said Blogs and let them know they've won
4. State 7 things about yourself

Ok, so the lucky bloggers are {in no particular order}:

Ok, so I tried to come up with 15, but I can't do it! 10 is close enough, right? =D

Now, for the 7 things about me. Uh...

1. After not working for 3 months now, I'm not sure I want to re-enter the work force.
2. I love for things to be organized, but I hate to actually organize it myself. Unless it's the kitchen.
3. I loathe cleaning the shower. Give me a dirty toilet any day, but not the shower.
4. I'm beginning to make up for all the books I didn't get to read in college because I was too busy not reading required books...
5. Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever going to use that darn degree I worked my butt off for 4 years to get. I still *heart* history, I swear!
6. I spend entirely too much time on facebook.
7. I've learned that [since hubby went to basic and is now in AIT] I hate sleeping alone. *sigh*

Now, for some Words of Wisdom Wednesday. {I know I warned you that this was random!}

"It is no use to preach to [children] if you do not act decently yourself."
-Theodore Roosevelt, in a Speech to Holy Name Society, Oyster Bay, August 16, 1903

You know I have a history degree, so it should be no surprise to you that I chose a TR quote. He's one of my favorite presidents. Going along with the randomness of this post, I'll share with you other favorite presidents! =) These are in no particular order either. FDR, Andrew Jackson (he was truly an interesting person), Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Monroe, James Madison, Eishenhower...I suppose that does it. =)

I had planned to say more today, but I can't remember what it was! So, I hope you all have a good "hump day"!

2.16.2010

B.e.a.utiful! =)

A HUGE thanks to The Undomestic Army Wife for this fabulous award!

The rules of the game:
1. Thank and link to the person that gave you the award.
2. Pass this award on to 15 bloggers you’ve recently discovered and whom you think are fantastic.
3. Contact said Blogs and let them know they've won
4. State 7 things about yourself

I will be back later to "obey" the last 3 rules! Just thought I'd share this award with you now! =D

1.15.2010

My First...

Blog award!!! Woohoo!! It was given to me by Amy at The Undomestic Army Wife. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! =DThe rules for the award are to blog about a woman (real life, celebrity or fictional) that you think is fabulous and explain why you think she rocks. You then need to pass the award onto 5 other bloggers that you think are deserving.

Her name is Anna. She is my sister in law. =) And I love her. She may not be blood related, but sometimes it really seems that way! Well, to me anyway.

Before I met her, she and her husband were trying to have a baby. I was newly married so I didn’t really understand how hard it could be. This past spring, we (both of my sisters in law and I) were doing a bible/book study. In it was a section about how women believe that they need children to be fulfilled...or something to that effect. I remember her talking about how hard it had been to try and be unsuccessful. She wanted a child, but knew that God would give her a child in His own time. She talked about the struggles of going to the doctor, and trying to lose weight, be better fit, all of the things that women who are trying to get pregnant do. I remember when one day she said, “I can’t let this be the focus of my life.” {Again, paraphrasing!} I suppose God had revealed to her that He would give her the desires of her heart, but first she had to trust Him and not put things in her own timeline. She started selling Mary Kay and was getting very successful at it. Then I heard her say, “You know, I’d really like to go somewhere with this. I can’t imagine getting pregnant right now.”

A week later, we got a phone call....and she was pregnant!!!!! Now, I hadn’t been there for the year and a half or so of her struggles, but I was super excited! A few months later, she found out the baby was a girl. It was so fun to see her and her husband talk about names and pick out stuff for the baby’s room. I could tell that both of them were extremely excited. Even though it wasn’t the easiest pregnancy ever, I’m sure Anna would do it again just to have little Eden. =) Who, might I add, is the cutest little thing ever!!! Her name is Eden Rose, and she made her entrance [4 days late] on December 6th. =D I think her name really shows how much of a blessing she is to both of her parents. I honestly can’t imagine going through so much...and experiencing complete joy once little Eden finally came. Truly a blessing from God! ♥

And now, for the nominations!
